FAQ

How much weight can I expect to lose?

SSM patients shed on average one to five pounds each week.* Ladies tend to lose one to three pounds, while men lose two to five.* We focus on FAT loss and muscle maintenance or growth. Of course, your individual results may vary and will depend on many factors: including your beginning weight, medical conditions, intensity and individual program design. “The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step”

Who are your patients?

We typically treat men and women looking to lose ten pounds or more. Many have struggled with weight their entire lives; others seek us out after major life changes such as child birth, enopause, career transitions, engagement and weddings. Some of our patients are looking to improve or reverse unwanted medical conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes or fatigue. Most simply want to lose weight quickly and safely in order to get back to their former confident selves. Our patients range in age from teenagers to octogenarians. “Why you do it is YOUR business….helping you to achieve it is OURS!”

How can I succeed when I’ve already tried every diet out there?

Our comprehensive program is not a diet; it’s a way of life. Major lifestyle modification is never easy and that is why most diets ultimately fail. At SimplySlim Medical we will empower you to transform your habits in order to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle. We do this by providing the ongoing private, personal and professional support essential to success. Most importantly our programs are flexible enough to address your unique challenges and circumstances. Strictly medically supervised and based on the real science of weight loss, our program will help you overcome obstacles with time-tested techniques and smart effective strategies. Unlike most diets, cleanses, or fads our program instills fundamental knowledge and lasting behavior modification which is paramount to continued health and vitality.

Do you provide meals for me?

No. To sustain success, you will need to develop healthy habits that extend beyond your initial weight loss phase. Our programs are scalable, designed to stay with you. We don’t believe our patients can learn how to maintain a healthy weight unless they are learning and practicing smart eating routines from the start. We teach our patients how to shop, order and prepare robust yet reasonable dishes for themselves- with special strategies for eating in real-word environments like the workplace and family. So difficult to do if you are eating prepackaged meals or drinking a series of shakes and juices and for that reason we do not sell prepackaged meal plans.

Will I need to do rigorous exercise?

Not at all.* Exercise is a wonderful and effective wellness tool that we energetically endorse- however if your destination is significant and lasting weight loss your primary and initial focus is best spent on nutritional modification. Exercise is introduced gradually especially if you are sedentary or have physical limitations. To prevent injury and from becoming too hungry we endorse moderate exercise -once you have settled into the routine of the program. Over time we may increase the duration and intensity of your work outs. Ideally you will find an activity that you truly enjoy: like dancing, golf or riding a bike that will evolve into your wellness tool for life.

Are appetite suppressants or other prescription medications part of the program?

They can be when indicated. Many of our patients choose not to take medication, most use it to complement their program. According to the NIH Executive Guidelines for the treatment of Overweight and Obese individuals, weight loss medication can serve a useful purpose as part of a comprehensive weight loss program involving nutrition education, exercise and behavioral changes. If you are a candidate for prescription medications, you will have the opportunity to discuss your personal preferences with our medical staff. Should you and your physician choose prescription medication as part of your program, it is provided at no extra charge.

Are your prescription medications safe?

Yes. We only prescribe pharmaceutical grade medications with a long history of safe and effective use. They have been FDA-approved for decades and have strong safety profiles. As with any medication, there may be unwanted side effects or risks. The vast majority of patients only experience the intended effects. If experienced, side effects are typically minimal and of limited duration. Our medical staff will tailor dosages to your individual needs and monitor their safety and effectiveness through your weekly visits.

Do you treat adolescents?

Yes. We treat patients who are 13 and older with parental consent on a case-by-case basis. Teenagers entering or attending college especially benefit from our program as they learn to better manage the unique challenges associated with campus life.

Do you accept insurance?

Our service oriented practice is designed on a fee for service model. Payment is due at the time of service. We will assist those utilizing Health Savings or Flex Spending Accounts and accept FSA debit cards. Most of our fees are eligible for reimbursement through your out of net-work benefits or healthcare saving account. Uncompensated medical fees can be claimed as a medical tax deduction.

We are proud to provide weekly payment plans.
